The Total History™ is a field history tracking package for Salesforce©. Total History can be used together with or instead of standard field history tracking but is free from most of the standard function’s limitations.

Its capabilities are the following
- Tracking changes on almost all standard objects (tacking field changes on the Quote object is supported) and all of the custom objects as well.
- Maximum number of tracked fields per object is not limited.
- Tracking changes on formula fields is partially supported. Change is not recorded if a formula value changed by a cross-object field reference.
- Field Histories won’t be removed after 2 years.
- Tracking long text fields are supported.
- Users with permission set can manage the package.
- Respects the field level security.
- Histories are available after record deletion.
- Record deleting and undeleting is visible on the history.

The Total History can be configured easily on each object
The Total History can be configured in 3 different ways
Tracking All available fields: All field change will be recorded.
Tracking Selected fields: The specified lists of fields will be recorded.
Tracking All without excluding field: The specified lists of fields won’t be recorded.
Extra capabilities
Specifying the key field
The field history tracking can be continued over records. Eg. given the tracking on Account, and the key field is the VAT Number. If the account is deleted and later created again, the new account keeps the changes from the previous record.

Limitations
- There are a few Operations That Don’t Invoke Triggers. In those standard objects and operations tracking field changing is not possible.
- Tracking changes on formula fields is partially supported. Change is not recorded if a formula value changed by a cross-object field reference.
- The historical data is stored on your organization’s attachment storage. It can limit the capabilities.
- The report builder is not supported.
- Mass record change can hit the governor limits.
- API Hard Delete is unsupported.
- Key field change is not supported.
